Need to travel to Cork next Friday afternoon departing between about 2 and 5pm. Nearest station *on that line* is Hazelhatch.

All 4 trains in that window require a change at, wait for it.... Heuston! Average journey time 3 hours 20 mins. Driving takes almost an hour less.

Is the only line that IE have figured out connections on the Sligo line, with changes at Maynooth?

If it helps and if you are able to stretch your window to 13:40 then you could go Hazelhatch to Portlaoise 13:41 to 14:27, which would link with an Intercity departing Portlaoise for Cork at 14:41. Still a 3 hour trip mind you.

It does seem strange that the next few Intercitys don't stop at Portlaoise automatically making these connections impossible.
