More often than not, TV's sold directly by Amazon can be shipped here with free postage included.

This Finlux doesn't ship to ROI, so you'd have to use Parcel Wizard or Parcel Motel.

Its a Vestel rebrand. So not very good.

If I bought an Ultra HD TV for £229 I wouldn't be expecting it to be great quality.

In TVs you tend to get what you pay for.

But if you want cheap and cheerful, its likely a good deal.

Yes, Finlux are a very poor brand. But, on the other hand, you have a 4K TV for a very small price.

I would expect a decent quality picture, terrible sound, possibly poor response time, and generally poor build quality.

I would say for someone who just watches TV/Movies it would be generally fine for most people, though a sound bar would be recommended as these bargain basement TV's tend to have horrible, hollow, tinny sound.

I would also be wary of using it for games consoles.

Not the exact same TV but would guess it's close.

As a 3D unit from a year ago, I'd say its not even vaguely close. With the exception of general build quality its a completely different TV.

    I wouldn't be so sure.

The logic of TV buyers can sometimes be totally stupid, so you might find someone buying this and they never feed it with a 4k source, totally defeating the purpose of buying a 4k TV in the 1st place.

They might also only watch standard def Sky or whatever on it, or even worse Saorview channels, and its fairly likely that these will look like cack, and even worse than a 720p TV.

A lot of the good upscaling that the better brands do is due to good software onboard. A cheapo TV like this is likely to have poorer, cheaper video chips inside and inferior software, so I wouldn't hold out too much hope of getting even a fine picture (unless you throw 4k at it).

This seems to be a great price - model number is 49UTD297B-P

If you just put that number into google you will find it sells for £699 and was on sale on Black Friday for £399.

    https://www.google.ie/?gws_rd=cr,ssl&ei=g_SNWMXnMsf-Ut7Qk8gO#q=49UTD297B-P

It sells for £299 on the Finlux website - https://finlux.co.uk/tv-49utd297b-p

what postage method did you use?

Using parcel motel.. TV should be with them today. I'll pick up the package from their depot in Dublin as it's near to my work.

Price for oversize packages is 7.99 I think

Fingers crossed that the TV screen isn't smashed. From reading reviews on other sites there seems to be a decent percentage of smashed or broken screens upon delivery
