Do I need to visit a local office in person to apply for this? My situation is I have recently started employment leading to the withdrawal of my payment. Im not arguing this but I have no income form now until I get paid my salary on 28th Feb. Because I'm working I cant really get to a SW office during opening hours.

You need to see your local CWO and ask for a loan to tide you over.

You can ring your local Cwo and explain situation and request forms be posted to you pending wages. I think you can downloads the form unsure about this so check welfare.ie

They still need to speak to the cwo in person first

Are you entitled to this when working?

Yes you can as far as I know but it doesn't mention what to do with them then

It seems to me like it's a case by case payment. I just need something for 4 weeks until I get paid.

I'm 5 years away from buying a house but this thread got me thinking. I currently have roughly €50k in savings which is split between 3 deposit account and 2 credit unions, I've also got 2 current accounts. I did this on purpose in order to maximise the interest I earn but to get a mortgage in the future should I tidy things up?

if you had 50k a month ago I don't know how a CWO could help you. You do know banks/revenue and SW have your PPS number to check details. You'd be laughed out of the CWO office if the above is true and declared.

The CWO payment will be loan until you get your wages away so I really don't what your playing at. Goodluck at your new job anyway.

There is quite a difference is capital allowed before means testing kicks in for social assistance payments.

For Supplementary Welfare Allowance it is €5,000

    For Jobseekers Allowance, €20.000

    For Disability Allowance, €50,000

So you have €50,000 in savings accounts and want the taxpayer to lend you money until your first payday?
