Need help with HTC Sense

    Hey all!

I received a HTC Desire 530 as gift for Christmas and compared to the rubbish windows lumia I had before its pretty damn good however...

Even though it says in the device info that it has android 6.0 I don't even have half the functions that android 6.0 has to offer, compared to a college Friends Gallaxy J5. He suggested that the HTC Sense "Skin" might be blocking alot of the functionality simply because it may not "know" how to interact with these features.

I have read the FAQ, Searched the forum and even spent 2 hours googling and all I could find was 6 year old methods for removing the home widget that apparently are obsolete due to HTC patches.

Can I remove HTC Sense entirely and get the full android 6 experience or am I stuck with it? I have a sinking feeling that I am stuck with it..... :(

The main reason why all this intrigue came about was the fact that I could'nt control my music player from the lock screen and while trying to remedy this I found I was missing many other functions too.

Aha well I can build PC's from scratch, tune em and even setup networks/ servers but if I were to do this it would be my first foray into doing a fresh install of a mobile OS. On a scale of 1 to 10 how difficult would this be?

also typical of my friend to leave out a detail like that lol

As someone who has spent a good 10 years flashing custom ROMs, I can say that it can be confusing if you don't know what you're doing.

At the end of the day, you have a cheap mid range phone. It is what it is. The developer support for it will be very limited, because the devs generally only go for flagships. HTC has a fantastic dev support, but only for devices like M8/M9/10.

Funnily enough, HTC used to have their own lock screen widgets, but they were removed due to changes with Android. Do you not even get controls for Google play music on your lock screen?

Nope. Nada. No matter what music app I have.

Edit: in fact I can't access a single thing from lock screen. I know during the setup it asked if I wanted to see notifications on the lockscreen and I said no.

I have a HTC one m7, and found ac display app to be very handy to use things without unlocking the screen.
