Where is the best place overall to stay for your first year in college in galway? I honestly haven't a clue and I've been getting very mixed advice! My biggest factors would be price of the room per week (single in a twin room), social life, and general quality of the place ie facilities, mould/dampness, general scauldiness etc
    I appreciate any help!

Have a look at loads of the previous threads on the forum. Corrib is great fun for first years and price is lower than most places. Quality of facilities isnt as good but then it is cheaper so ....

Price wise most are in and around the same, with Corrib probably being the cheapest. For social life, Corrib is great craic and you'll always be around other first years and you're so close to the college as well, also heard Menlo can be good for social life. But for quality of the place Corrib is grim, it's so damp and was filthy. Basically the only reason to go to Corrib is location & social life otherwise look at Menlo, Gort etc etc

So the main "student accommodation" options are Corrib Village, Cuirt and Gort na Coiribe, Dun na Coiribe, Centrepoint and Menlo

Corrib Village - Usually First Years, It's located on campus, security is very strict and gets worse every year. It's great craic, the majority of people living there are in first year and it helps you settle into college. I don't think it's cheap by a longshot to be honest, given the state of the apartments there.
Mould and dampness can be an issue in Corrib as some apartments are not well ventilated.

Gort na Coiribe - Usually Second or Third Years I've seen, not a lot of First Years. Some of the estate is let out directly by landlords. Dunnes across the road, Tesco and Aldi all a stones throw away.

Cuirt na Coiribe is the same as Gort na Coiribe, security is tighter and it is a bit more expensive. It's apartments. Deposit was €900 the last time I checked.

Centrepoint - I wouldn't live there or recommend it. Too far away and we had security issues there. Usually all first years, it's cheaper but for what you get it's not worth it. It's smaller than any of the other options and very noisy. 30 minute walk into college isn't ideal.

Dun na Coiribe is good. Haven't heard anything bad about it.

Gort na Coiribe, Cuirt na Coiribe and Centrepoint are all run under the same agency (or at least were).

My advice is take what you can get. There is a big difference between houses and also between student accommodation complexes. WiFi is fast in Corrib but it's the worst in Cuirt, then it's slightly better in Gort na Coiribe and a bit better than in Centrepoint.
