    Hi

A friend of mine is based in the UK and wants to buy a prebuilt system to play on. He wants a prebuilt so he can buy it through his company rather than self build.

His main game is World of Warcraft and his current system is an old 13 inch Mac which is showing its age at this stage. He plays on pretty much min settings and even then it is struggling like mad to keep up in raids.

This is what I suggested from the pc specialist website.
Can I get a second opinion on this please and a suggestion on a screen. I was suggesting a nice widescreen 1080p monitor.

His budget is circa 1.2-1.3k stg and he wants to get warranty cover as part of the package.

    Better IMHO
RX470 is up to ~95% performance of RX480, comes with a free Hitman game code.
    16Gb RAM instead of 8Gb.
    Z270 motherboard instead of H110.
    2Tb 7200rpm secondary drive.
Hyper 212x CPU cooler (not really needed, but nice)
    Good 60Hz monitor.

Don't forget to add mouse and/or keyboard.

Good thinking on the 470 vs the 480
I will pass those along and see if I can get him to post here and keep the discussion going.

If you switch to Z270 board, also up ram to 2400mhz as the board supports it natively.

If the price difference isn't too great though, the 8GB RX480 with the H110M board offers much better performance than Z270 with RX470 4GB - the latter is just newer/better features/supports slightly faster ram, but doesn't really offer any better gaming performance.

All this chatting about his upgrade has me thinking of an upgrade now.

(not going to happen for another 12 months or so as my i5 4690k is running well and not bottlenecking my fury in anything as yet)

IMHO yes, get a Z270 board now.

Heck, you could get the basic 4Gb RAM from PCSpecialist & change it for 16Gb of high-speed DDR4 yourself - would be much cheaper.

Has anyone a recommendation on a monitor.

I was thinking this looks good https://www.overclockers.co.uk/lg-29um68-p-29-2560x1080-ips-freesync-gaming-super-wide-widescreen-led-monitor-black-mo-143-lg.html

Widescreen 1080p with freesync to marry up with the AMD card.
A 1440p freesync monitor would probably be out of budget.

is Ms response time any good? I thought i seen other monitors with 1ms, maybe they are budget busters?

For gaming you'd definitely want a response time in the range 1-10ms (milliseconds), but remember that manufacturers claims are to be taken with a grain of salt - google the monitor for reviews.

It pays to read, since your monitor will last you a lot longer than you think.

That warranty is absolute rubbish and doesn't even meet the standard of consumer law in England and Wales.

There are loads of boutique builders in the UK, be sure to shop around.

That looks pretty savage alright, have passed it onto Uror. The build is for him rather than me but if I had the cash I would be ordering that.

I just ordered that overclockers system :-)  Now to research a monitor....

PC Specialist, Overclockers UK, SCAN, also a lot of places sell through Amazon as well so it's a good place to have a look around also.
