I need to get one implant on a front tooth. Has anyone any recommendations? I had a consultation in a place called SNIP in Churchtown today and am wondering if anyone had used them? Also have a consultation in SNIP next week. Anyone used them? Prices seem to vary from 1200 to double that. Thanks for any suggestions. Henry

MOD EDIT: no names of clinics in the forum, please read the forum charter.

I went today to get impressions taken for a temporary crown and a cleaning also. They will do the implant in a month. They are very professional and my intuition tells me they are good. That is how I know they are good. Hope you are less confused!

If you have a good implant placed by a good surgeon, restored with a good crown in a clinic with good aftercare at a good price, op you are on a winner, no matter where it is done. If there is any deficit in any of these considerations, when implants go wrong, they go very wrong. Op if your gut tells you that you are in the right place and price is not your only consideration, carry on, the true test of success is if you are happy with the result and it lasts a long time.

I know a Clinic in Drogheda that delivers what it promises - at lower prices. They opened in 2013 and they have now a big customer base I hear. I agree that websites cannot be trusted as such (you ca say whatever you want and in many cases they are a marketing trick) - you need testimonials, reviews and advice from those whoalready got the experience.

Implants are restorations that need life-long maintenance, and everybody (the patient, the dentist, the technician, the implant company) embarking on implant dentistry needs to look at a long term relationship for long term success. For the patient, this means having an implant placed by a properly qualified and trained dentist, who will use reputable products and laboratories and more importantly who will be around to resolve issues as and when they occur. Ten year "issues / complication rates" at a recent international implant conference are at about 20% - porcelain breaks or chips off, implants can lose bone and become infected etc.

When I hear of implants at €1200 fully restored, corners are being cut somewhere...
