Best Paint and where to buy?

Ok wondering where to get paint? All the walls are skimmed so will need 2-3 coats of white first and then color.

I have before gone to Dulux in Tallaght and bought off the store over there or the Fleedwood in Finglas.

Not sure if I am really saving anything but buy there for the quality but just wondering is that the best quality or am I missing a trick?

I don't like the cheap 20 quid 10ltr buckets of crap in Woodies.

    Colourtrend.
Top quality, good range of colours and it's Irish.
    It goes on easily.
I've painted with different brands over the years and this is the best without question.

It's not available in your regular hardware stores but you can find out all you need to know online.

Agree with Colourtrend but it is expensive at over 100e for 10 ltrs.
Dulux or fleetwood will be less than half that and is good quality paint.
Also one coat of white tinned out by 20% is all you need for you based coat. Fill any holes and lightly sand the wall before you apply 2 coats of you finish paint

I would normally go more than 20% on first coat as newly skimmed walls just soaks it up.

I was told something last night, was from a painter. He said Dulux white is not really white and is a little off, if you want real white then go fleetwood.

Sounded odd to me but he said it was true

20% was not supposed to be a direct quantity but more a guide. Sometimes this may be a bit more or less depending on the consistency of the paint. Sorry I should have point that out.

You will also find that most if not all matt emulsion paint is slightly off white as is oil based satinwood and oil based gloss.
If you use white soft sheen over white matt you will see a big difference in the colour. Also the sane can be said about water-based satinwood.

We find Fleetwood to be hands down the nicest paint to use - goes on perfectly. Their water based satinwood is brilliant too - we actually used it to paint our kitchen cabinets 3 years ago and still perfect. Not sure if all stockists do this but our local one can mix all brands colours, ie dulux, colortrend, f&b.
