Building an eco house

    Hi all,

Am due to come into some land (road frontage!).

Am thinking of using it to build a little eco house. 3 beds.

Has anyone built an eco house/any experience?

Ive been trying to get in contact with <snip> (email and phone) and just keeps ringing out (been trying to find reviews too). I really want to just say "here is the plot of land...build what we agree...hand over". Ive no interest (or knowledge) in the building trade.

    Any wisdom welcome.

    Thanks.

What exactly do you want from the eco house?

Are you looking for a passive house or specifically this company?

Basically what you are looking or is a contractor to build a home for you to passive standard? What area are you in?

    Thanks for replying to me.

Nope-Ive nothing lined up and doesnt have to be this company (just liked their design). As Ive said above, I really dont have a clue. So, am looking for others to impart some wisdom :-)

I'd love to be able to just input into design, agree a price, tell them off you go, and keys are given to me few months later.

I really would prefer not to manage a build (as Ive no knowledge).

I like the idea of a timber frame, the insulation type, and how quick they can go up.

    Am in the Limerick/Tipp area.

Engage a local architect/engineer/technician/someone that knows the system.
Arrange a pre planning meeting with the area planner.
    Discuss design.
Discuss local needs assessment (if active in your area).
