Hi there, my OH is a seasonal guide, so off the top of my head here are a few points.
They will ask you about how you would deal with difficult people e.g. suppose there is a group and there were little kids who were causing havoc and parents ignoring - it happens, what would you do? Also think of examples in your own work experience - paid or unpaid where you've had to think on your feet to solve a problem. Don't forget there is a chain of command in these organisations, so you reporting issues to a line manager would always be a good step, but often you have to deal with something there and then.

Health & Safety is an issue - so expect a question on that - at least show your understanding of how important it is when dealing with the public. Team work and being flexible will likely be mentioned - again give an example where you have worked in this way in the past.

I would suggest you go down the essential and desirable skills and experience points on the job description and just work on giving some fuller answer about how you have developed or used that skills in the past. Most of these interviews are competency based, so you get points for demonstrating that you posses the skill or way of working.

    Good luck!

No problem. Oh, I was chatting to my OH and he said one question could be 'what is your primary role as a guide/information officer?' he said it's actually to protect the fabric of the building/site, hence you have to be alert to what's going on while conducting a tour.

The other thing I forgot is to suggest you look at the OPW website, in case there is a broad question about the OPW and you can show that you know the wide remit they have e.g flood risk and property management for the state.

Hope it goes well for you.:D
