    Hi

Recently joined a club for the first time.

Local course so i've played it loads of time (approx 40). Best two rounds I can remember are +7 and +9, probably off the greens.

5 rounds played since January 1st. average for 17 holes is +15.4, one hole is getting a refurb and it's been lift clean and place everywhere.

5 rounds are +11, +17, +16, +13, +12. I've birdied 6 of the holes in the 5 rounds and pared all the rest bar the stroke index 1 par 4. Getting all these stats from new garmin watch.

What do you think would be a fair handicap for me? I've a real worry they'll be very harsh and put me down as 9 or 10 which will need me to beat my course record there to even compete in competitions!!

I've been told I cannot hand in 3 cards until winter rules aren't in play anymore.

    Thanks,
    MM

Not a hope of getting 9 or 10, I'd say 5 if you keep playing like that. You obviously are well able to play and they will take that into account.

Not sure about not being able to hand in cards for handicaps while winter rules are in play, we allow cards to be handed in signed for attaining handicaps when winter rules are in play. Chances are (i think) that people will shoot lower scores under winter rules and consequentially obtain lower handicaps than under summer rules, again no evidence but that would my slant on it so no harm in people obtaining handicaps during the winter months IMO.

Yeah i've heard other clubs in the area work the same way as your club. Unfortunately for me, no qualifying cards until spring.
