I am blue in the face trying to find eyelets or grommets to repair a favourite handbag. They are about 25mm in circumference and the hole is approximately 15mm. I have tried numerous bag manufacturers, repairers, hardware supplies etc. Can anyone recommend where I might try successfully or if someone can supply them. I know something like these are used for canvas tents etc but they need to be a bit more upmarket. Help anyone???

Have you tried any cobblers or shoe repair places? Ebay might be a good place to look also.

Haberdashery shops sometimes have these, but haberdashers are few and far between these days.

There is one on Capel Street that also has craft supplies of various kinds ..W M Trimmings, 137 Capel St. They just might. 01 828 0301

(I am not connected, I have just copied this off the side of a paper bag which holds a recent fabric purchase)

    Hickeys is another possibility.

    ?

Thank you for the name in Capel Street, I will try them. As you say, very few haberdashery shops now. I emailed Hickeys but got no reply but as I am in the country it is hard to go everywhere. T

Another one that comes to mind is this: They supply zips and do repairs.

    Ken Trimmings
48 Dorset Street Upper, Rotunda, Dublin
    Phone: (01) 874 2848

I'd really recommend phoning directly rather than emailing: speak to a human with your query - if they don't have it, they might know who has!
