It's so far away. I'm looking at holidays as I want something to look forward to except I can't afford to book anything yet. It's depressing as ****. The weather is miserable, cold and shyte.

Take inspiration from the great Paddy Kavanagh and write the best poetry ever seen. Alternatively, have a look at Farquharson's "The Shortening Winter's Day".

Sure it's only 3 full months until May.

Sundays too my father got up early
and put his clothes on in the blueblack cold,
then with cracked hands that ached
from labor in the weekday weather made
banked fires blaze. No one ever thanked him.

I'd wake and hear the cold splintering, breaking.
When the rooms were warm, he'd call,
and slowly I would rise and dress,
fearing the chronic angers of that house,

    Speaking indifferently to him,
who had driven out the cold
and polished my good shoes as well.
What did I know, what did I know
of love's austere and lonely offices?

-- Robert Hayden, "Those Winter Sundays'

Today was quite mild, think it got to 11. A lot of days in July and August struggle to get to 15. Enjoy every day. Don't wish your life away the years go quicker as you get older!

I'm sitting here practically planning my next holiday with money I don't have. I know I want to rent a car. So I applied for a credit card for a car rental. I won't be going anywhere until after summer anyways. What am i going to do with a fecking credit card until then. Just look at it.

Instead of dreaming about where you might be Grasshopper, why not have a good look at where you are?

Book it next month when you have cash, plan it this month.
Imagine it, 2 weeks relaxing and checking out the sites in Clare. Lovely.

Sounds like you can't afford a holiday

    What a beautiful poem.

It's gorgeous, one of my favourites. If you liked that, check out Paddy Kavanagh's "In Memory Of My Father".

It's Ireland. It could be warmer next week than the whole of July

This winter has be pretty mild so far, at least we are not in Canada or Dakota (Fargo) country where its an average -19. We could campaign for South of Spain weather but I don't know if that will get us anywhere.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Look forward to life itself! You don't need holidays and bank holidays and christmas to look forward to. Look forward to the weekend. Look forward to Friday or Saturday. Do it every week. Don't be like some saddo's that need to book big holidays after christmas just to fill the "looking forward to something" void in their lives LIVE LIFE!

It's been the warmest winter in I don't know how long. I remember walking to school 7 years ago and it being absolutely freezing and 0 degrees celsius during the day. This winter has averaged about 8 degrees in the daytime. Quit yer moaning' :D

January 2015 was pretty cold. A lot colder than 16 and 17 anyway. This is Spring weather at the moment.

Chances are you'll be refused a credit card so don't worry about having to look at it and resist spending on it. Now, bet that's cheered ya up!

    I love these early months.

I have moved house from one tourist area to another and the roads are empty and peaceful....

The car is warm and so much to see out there.

And I have turf and coal to enjoy....

Not had what you call a holiday for decades and would hate it, frankly. Perfect here; home comforts and new places to see...

Without the hordes there will be later..

Gale roaring around the mountain valley today and snug here.

Haven't seen a winter for three years now. Its 30ish degrees today, though a little showery. I may make the 100 metre walk to the beach later on.

Why do people stay in Ireland for winter?

They gave me a credit card. That's my next holiday sorted.
