Missing E4

Recently my Walker WP645TS-HD has removed some channels from the satellite EPG. All the ones affected are from the 10714/H/22000 transponder. This being the one operated by Channel 4 I'm missing E4, More4 etc. Now here's the thing, these channels still appear on the satfree EPG & the same transponder still shows up in the list of available transponders but when I scan the frequency in 'satellite' mode I get a blank channel list. Two other receivers are working off the same LNB & are picking the transponder fine. Any ideas & suggestions?

    I thought e4 was 12304 H 27500 2/3
Don't quote me on that though I could be wrong (again).

    That is the encrypted channel.

On 10729V E4 is in the clear.

E4+1 is on the same transponder.

Why would they have an encrypted version of a FTA channel?

That's the encrypted version for the Sky Ireland EPG, the FTA/Freesat variation sits on 10714/H/22000.

    As I posted above .... try 10729V for E4

OK, got a few things wrong here. Yep E4 is on 10729 not 10714, so now I've realised that my receiver is blind to two frequencies both 10714H & 10729V. Any way to edit the transponder list by removing them & add them again to see if that will work.

Sorted. Decided to do another scan by also scanning for encrypted services also & guess what, my Walker WP645TS-HD now sees everything there flagged as encrypted services but coming through in the clear.

No idea there, just did a fun scan on the two transponders I mentioned. It happened before that when you do a full system scan - FTA & encrypted - the EPG just ends up with a whole pile of stuff that just clutters the programme guide.

On one of those Walker receivers I did notice that the encrypted Symbol (Dollar Sign) was now appearing with those FTA channels on the Satellite channel list.

The channels did not get deleted though - because the last time a scan was done it was deliberately selected as encrypted - (as this allowed a user of the box who wanted to access the teletext on the encrypted Racing UK !) If a subsequent FTA-only scan is done it would delete any existing saved channels that were flagged encypted, so I'd have to scan the transponder that Racing UK was on as Encypted to get it back again

I have access to a Satellite to Terrestrial DVB transmodulator. This unit converts channels from satellite to DVB-T, where it can be viewed as a normal terrestrial channel.

For some reason, a Walker Saorview box shows the entire satellite transponders from which Channel 4, Film 4 and E4 transmit free-to-air, as encrypted and will not display them. A Ferguson TV using the same menu layout as the Walker box, also flags the channels as encrypted, but will display them!

It's a bug and Walker need to be made aware of it.

    Its not just C4/+1, More 4 /+1 , 4seven that are affected.
UTV-HD and also STV-HD (Scottish ITV) - both on transponder 11068 V 23k - also show as encrypted (even though these are FTA) but the SD versions of these channels come in as unencrypted OK.

The Walker box (WP645TS-HD) indicates encrypted channels by a Key symbol (in previous post I in error said a $ sign - that is for encrypted on other receivers)
(As an aside its nonsensical that the Saorview Logo appears on the channel list when in Satellite and Satfree mode!)
