Freeview reception question

Just set up a new TV at the mothers house and during the scan for DTV channels it picked up a bunch of BBC channels on Freeview as well as the expected Saorview. All of the channels showing from Freeview are on Ch28.

The other channels show no signal (CH21, 22, etc). Is there any way to boost or amplify the signal or do anything to pick up more channels.

Aerial type don't know, 14 years old and was picking up all analogue UK signals before switch over. Signal is amplified with aerial top booster

Have clear line of sight to Enniskillen (Brougher Mountain) from elevated site in Co. Roscommon. Site is just past the edge of the overspill maps but Ch28 signals very strong.

P.S. receiving multiple copies of Saorview channels assuming from different transmitters

Would be nice to have most of the Freeview channels to all TV's without messing with satellite cabling.

Ch. 28 is PSB Mux 1 Brougher Mt., the other PSB Muxes are on 22 and 25 at the same power, the 3 commercial muxes are at lower power on 21,24,27. If the first mux is coming in good the other PSB muxes should also come in unless the signal strength/quality overall is borderline.

After 14 years the aerial/masthead amp/cabling may need looking at/realigning. Maybe an upgrade to a new hi-gain aerial, e.g. https://www.blake-uk.com/dmx-high-gain/688-tv-aerials-dmx-52-element-high-gain-aerial-dmx-high-gain-blake-aerials.html ? A Group T wideband aerial will cover both Saorview and Freeview reception in the area.

If you're receiving multiple versions for the Saorview channels I assume you've setup the TV using UK as the country/region.

From memory the signal strength on Ch28 was low 90's but zero everywhere else apart from Saroview.

I would have to get someone to check the aerial as it is very high and I don't have a head for heights. I will head into the attic and check the cabling next time.

I have a feeling it is a 76 element high gain already (vague memory from last install) replacing something physically larger.

TV was set for Ireland as far as I know - it's a Nordemende if that makes any difference. I thought it rather odd but some of the copy channels on Saorview are rather weak and showing a lot of distortion. I have a good example of all needed Saorview channels set up for her on 101 to 108 so all is good in that department

Signal quality is the more important figure for digital TV, the closer to 100% the better.

If the Saorview channels are stored anywhere else other than 1, 2, 3 etc. with duplicates the TV isn't set to Ireland. Are the Freeview channels stored 1, 2, 3 etc.?

Channels 22 & 25 are also used at Castlebar; 21, 24, 27 at Divis; so it's possible you won't be able to get good enough signal quality on those channels, no matter how strong of a signal you might manage to get.
