    Hi
I am looking at possibly buying a new plough.
    I have a Knverland 4F Number 3 plough.
One of the furrows is broken so i am currently ploughing with only 3 Furrows. I am contemplating fixing up the plough as there is alot of parts that need to be replaced. It looks like the following

but i am also looking at buying a new plough as a replacement. Possibly a 3furrow reversible.
I am looking at something like the following:
    https://www.donedeal.ie/ploughs-for-sale/kneverland-3-sod-reversable-plough/14490087?campaign=3

I know nothing about reversible so whats the difference between a 120 headstock/160 headstock etc?

i only plough 30-35 acres a year so i am wondering if a reversible would benefit me?

    Any comments would be welcome

    Thanks

    Oops,

Had this same discussion 4 years ago. Decided back then to stay with the 4F :):'(

A good standard 4 f plough will turn a lot of ground in a day , wouldn't mind a rev plough but I don't do enough to justify one I do add a fifth furrow to my old plough when plough IMG the tillage fields

OP I'm not an expert, but the higher number on kv headstocks the heavier they are. I'd prefer a reversible, once it's set up right it's a lot easier to plough, no middles, opening lands etc.

It might be cheaper to buy a plough with fairly good metal than to replace parts on your own plough.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

I had the identical predicament last year, sold the 3furrow and bought a 3 furrow reversible 16".. a different animal to Plough with altogeter.. 120 headstocks are suppose to be prone to snapping off, everyone i went to see was welded so i went with the 160 headstock.. will have it for years...

Also would TS115 be powerful enough to pull a 4 F 160 headstock?

5k with some new metal and a seasons warranty. 1k for my own sold privately.. i have 105 horses and it would pull a 4F, i just couldn't justify it.. i went for 16in instead of 14in to gain ground.. was way cheaper than extra furrow.. gets an extra 6in over 3 furrows..
Also you would need front weights to carry 4F.. another cost if you don't have em..
