Water softener salt types

I cannot seem to find details online of the difference (if any) in using salt tablets vs crystals in a water softener.

The softener was originally supplied with Soft-Sel Crystals (5-15), however the supplier is looking for €10/25kg bag.

A local shop sells Broxo crystals (6-15) for €9/25kg, or Axal Pro tablets for €8/25kg. I've seen both brands recommended on boards, Axal more so.

Another local plumbing supplies also offers salt tablets (different brand I can't remember) at a similar price. When I asked if it mattered moving from crystals to tablets, he told me "salt is salt"...

Are there any downsides to switching from crystals to tablets?
