How much meal do single bearing ewes require?
    " " " " twin " " " ?
    " " " " triplet " " " ?

They are currently on silage and fodder beet, housed.

what quality is the silage ?

For us singles only get real good silage and a mineral lick. Ewes are out on swedes and getting silage, they'll be housed on the 1st of March and given 2lbs of meal per head until lambing and 2lbs for 2 days after lambing. Triplets will go in the nest 2 weeks and get 2.5lbs until lambing and then 2lbs after wards for a few days.

Your not feeding much concentrate there Davidk. Surely you would give more to triplets and twins for longer and especially after lambing to the triplets.

How many weeks are they from lambing?
What weight are the ewes on averag?

With good sileage and 6 weeks from lambing I'm giving 0.3 kgs per ewe for all singles and 0.4 for twins housed.

With the swedes they'll be thick fat. Also with the triplets we take away a lamb from them. Also have an additive in the meal for toxo.

    What's the additive?
It's not banned but you need to get the script from your vet and the vets were told to reduce the amount of in feed antibiotics in feed

Romensin used to be what was used in the face of an outbreak, never heard of anything being used as preventative
nearly sure it's no longer licensed for sheep

Just googled it, it seems Deccox will prevent toxo too

I can't remember it's name. But we decided to do it this way. Have to get a minimum of 6 tonnes and that's all was used last year with 500 ewes

They're only protected while they're on the meal, suppose you're playing the odds because they're only in a short while.
We had a flock affected on grass one time.
