Samsung TV and Virgin Mute not Working

I have a strange problem with my new samsung TV. On some channels on the Virgin box the mute button doesn't work when muted on Virgin, in fact none of the virgin sound controls work on those channels only the TV's controls. It's very strange and annoying when flicking through channels.
