I'm looking for two pairs of black formal shoes for work (to be worn with a suit). Ideally one leather soled pair and another with rubber soles and a bit more grip for wintery weather).

Any brands or particular places to buy online? I know of Meermin but looking for somewhere with a sale ideally.

(I'm sure this has been asked before but I did a search and can't find anything.)

Try Herring - http://www.herringshoes.co.uk/. Can pick some stuff up quite cheap in their sale / seconds section. Very good customer service too, and free shipping to Parcel Motel. They'll also put in a tub of the correct polish for the shoes too.

Alternatively try TK Maxx online - bit random, but can have some good stuff (they had quite a few Barkers recently for £80 - £90).

Yoox.com is another website worth checking. Their stuff isn't that well presented but choice is huge and returns are easy. Don't be scared of prices, just enter your criteria and arrange stuff from low to high price.

If you don't wear suits that often you can't go wrong with a pair of M&S leather shoes. I've a pair and they are pretty bullet proof and great in the rain (I'm always too scared to wear my expensive shoes when it's lashing).
