Around 15:40 yesterday Cessna 177 N707XJ declared a Mayday to Dublin ATC due to engine failure and apparently made an emergency landing in a field near Ongar, Co.Dublin. It had departed from Weston earlier.

Hopefully, no one was injured and the aircraft was undamaged.

It was caught on the LiveATC archive, 21 Jan, 1530z for the Dublin mix feed. Listen in from 9:00 in. Mayday was given as going down, engine failure (no altitude given) 1nm south of Ongar. Didn't pick up on status after landing.

That was one of 15 aircraft that did an IAA fly in to Shannon yesterday.
