Officially,Swiftway remains a live NTA project.

However, the initial Swiftway line from Swords to Earlsfort Terrace, which was the most advanced in planning terms, was rather suddenly halted at the 11th Hour as the NTA decided to "reevaluate" the line in response to Government Changes regarding Heavy/Light Rail connections to Dublin Airport/Fingal.

Dublin Bus had been awarded the contract as part of their 2015 direct award, and had expended significant resources towards the planning and operation preparations, all of which now hang in the balance, awaiting the results of the NTA's deliberations.

Ireland has traditionally had a VERY cautious attitude towards any form of Infrastructural improvements, preferring to circle cautiously around such things, always wary of them blowing up or falling off a cliff thereby embarrassing a Minister,Departmental Secretary or CEO of a Quango.

Sadly them oul Unionists up North appear to favour actually doing stuff and seeing how it goes...

Translink have ordered 30 new Van-Hool Exqi-City Articulated Buses and also embarked on a totally new Ticketing system for the City....

Oh well,as the ancient bards n' poets of Ireland might have said...we'll just have to "b'fhan go bfheicímid...le búiochas Dia".

Can't be too unionist or they'd have bought Wright. What with an election coming.

Oddly enough...Sir William Wright was one of the few Industrialists to come out strongly in favour of the UK leaving the E.U.,mind you,he has steered Wrightbus on an ever developing marketing course in Asia,Africa and the Mid East...

Over €2 million was spent on the Swords route in the last two years -- it is very much so alive and well, even more so than the other route.
