Firebird not firing

    Hi Guys,
    Hopefully someone can help me out, heating was fine until I ran out of oil. I refilled today and began the normal bleeding process and that is now bled correctly. When I opened door on boiler I noticed the pressure valve was leaking quite a bit of water so I opened for about two seconds to release pressure and stop leak this worked leak stopped. However as water sprayed everywhere boiler will run but not fire, in fact it stays running constantly unless I turn off heating or press red button in. Normally when red button pressed boiler would run then attempt to fire a few seconds later. Any ideas? I have pressed the high limit reset switch and this makes no difference.

    Cheers
    Martin

    Sounds like your control box has gotten wet and failed, boiler in constant prepare like that (on reillo RBD burners) are caused by, a) failed PE cell, b) failed solenoid, c) failed control box.

    If yours is a reillo RDB you will need one of the above replaced, as you mentioned the water, money is on the control box.

    For your safety.....water and electrics don't mix.
    If your safety valve is leaking, it is indicating an over pressure or expansion issue and also need to be checked, as pressure came from somewhere to lift it in the first place. Time to call your service engineer I'm afraid.

    @DGOBS
    Thanks I will be calling engineer in the morning for service. I also noticed the control box is ajar as in the bottom bolt seems to be missing or loose and you can hear/feel air. I moved it slightly and it's now firing so a demo call on the morning.
    Appreciate your reply thanks again.
