Couch to 5k for kids

    Hi all,

My school is organizing a 5k family fun/run walk in March and we want to get as many of the children involved as possible. I have decided to start doing some training with the children one a week. In general they're a sporty bunch of kids.

As an athlete myself I know the children shouldn't be running 5k and all that but we want to make it as fun as possible for them and do it as a school and to raise a bit of money at the same time.

Therefore I am looking for some simple and fun ideas for 'training' sessions with them from 4 years to 13 years.

I was thinking simple walk/jog for the younger ones with the teacher leading to regulate pace then onto some interval/tempo sessions where the older ones could do some 'Indian Runs', simple fartlek run-jog-run-walk.

Are you anywhere near a junior parkrun... ? they are only 2k and kids love them, good way to get started.
