If you had a choice of Vilnius, Riga or Ljubljana in April for a few days which would you choose and why?

There is no flights to Ljubljana direct from Ireland, not sure if that will be a problem for you though.

I've never been to Riga or Vilnius but purely for weather I would pick Ljubljana. You are not guaranteed sunshine and it could rain but it should be warmer. It's a lovely city, centre is pedestrianised, restaurants and cafes have their gardens open. That being said you would be probably bored spending more than two days in Ljubljana itself.

I depends on how long you are going for and what you like to do. I have been Ljubljana a few times and Riga once. Ljubljana is a very pretty but a small city. Though you could combine it with a trip to Lake Bled which is lovely. Riga is much bigger and has a lot more cultural events - we went to opera and the ballet when there and you can combine it with a trip to the nearly beach but it might be a bit cold in April. Both interesting from a historical point of view.
