Just got a canon 6d to start off an interest in astro photography.
The old 1100d wasnt able for it. At the moment the widest angle lens i have for it is the 50mm as the 18-55 is an efs lens.,

    Here is my first atttempt.
30 shots at 6s , f1.8 iso 1600, processed in Deep sky stacker and lightroom,
    I have lots to learn

next attempt is the zoom lens on the nebula.
    hints appreciated

Thats a great photo. Well done. The detail is stunning. Your location must have been extremely dark too. Im only new to astrophotography and have taken photos of orion before but i havent done any post-processing of the images as i dont really know how to yet. Would you mind showing what one unprocessed shot of orion through your 50mm lens straight out of the camera looks like please? Thanks a lot.

Nice image. You even caught a little of the flame nebula too. Do you have a mount?

Im going to try get the nebula on its own soon.
No i have no mount. the only gear i have at the moment for that camera is a 50mm 1.8, canon 55-200 and a sigma 70-300.

Have you got an intervalometer or software like astro photography tool aka Apt? With that you could automate your captures and try to get maybe 200 frames at 3 seconds or so.

I do for the old camera but it doesnt suit the new 6d. one is on order. With this shoot I used the wifi app from Canon. It was purely a test to see how it worked. once i get the intervalometer i will do a large amount of shots and re align every 20 or so shots.

I will look up Apt. I never used it.
