    Evening all.

So, I'm in Budapest for a week, fly hoem tomorrow. Problem is, I have three cans of beer which I put in the freezer and forgot about until five minutes ago. They're solid.

As I said, I fly home tomorrow, so they have to be drunk tonight. What's the best way of defrosting them fast?

Obviously a microwave is out of the question. I'm heating water in a pan at the moment and was thinking of stickign them in the heated water and just keeping an eye on them. Will that work? I'm neither a chemist nor a chef.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Pull the ring pull and just lick it.

Get a can opener and try make them into a beer slushy.
You need to do it fast , the expanding frozen beer may burst the can causing an explosion.

Keep us posted , be brave little one.

Yeah, this is what I'm scared of - standing over it at all times, unless posting here, in whcih case I just take it out.

I'm also curious to know if the beer will still taste ok, even if it does work (thta said, one of them is Heniken so.....)

Any supermarket will have an ATM, you've not been to Budapest much?

First time in fifteen years - but my point was I dont want to use one to take out about 2-3 euro and wind up having to pay double that on foreign exchange.

Nearest supermarket has no ATM though (that said, its tiny)

Bring them back to the shop and exchange them for non frozen ones

Beer appears to be liquidising, but is still half frozen, but the can is now very hot to touch.

If there is still frozen beer in there it will turn into a massive half-frozen head of beer that will keep pouring out of the can when you open it, so be careful and open them over a basin.

    RIP the Heinicken.

Opened in pot over sink, beer everywhere. I have a cup of warm foam that is probably undrinkable.

Sorry to hear that. I've decided to join you in playing Russian roulette though.

I just stuck a 750 ml bottle of Belgian strong ale in the freezer. It even has a cork. Interesting times ahead.

Nah. It spill a little though when I opened it there due to the compression and cork and what not. Still, most stayed in the bottle and I'm currently drinkin a nice cool but not frozen glass of beer.

Well, that's why I experimented with the Heineken first.

After that, my AirBnB host came over (he lives next door) to check the apartment before I leave and give me a receipt. Turns out he had some beer so exhanged the two frozen ones for two liquid ones, and we drank. Everybody wins :)

Don't you just love stories with a happy ending?

Now all I have to do is get up in three hours to catch a flight....

Your armpit is the warmest part of your body. Put the cans there for a while.
