I'm studying death and Nightingales as part of my comparative text from my leaving cert So far we haven't been told what the other two books are yet but we've been asked to write an essay on the cultural context that can be seen in Death and Nightingales. As of yet i only have topics to write about but I'm struggling to find the correct way to word my answers and find the quotes to back up what i say most effectively.

My topics to touch upon are:

    loyalty to government/kingdom
    Education
    Wealth
    Religion
Gender/ the power men have over women
    Class
    Democracy
    values

The main objective of our question is to find where the power lies in the society that this novel was based on and how power and lack thereof will affect characters.
