Anybody here recall the 1980's Britvic ad which included a caveman cartoon character who said someting like 'og iche plof, tee ran eeec' ? :D

A workmate and I recalled it recently, but didnt find the actual ad on youtube.

They find a britvic in a cave with the words "OG ICHI PLOF TEE RA NESSI" on it, which is an anagram of 'The Original of Species'.

Did the caveman look a bit like a hippy and wear John Lennon type glasses? It might have been a different series of ads but I seem to remember him being kind of wimpy and they used to feature him trying unsuccessfully trying to chat up cave women.

Not the specific Britvic ad you're talking about but it features the wimpy caveman character I mentioned. It's here at the 21.47 minute mark. Double dose of nostalgia, an entire episode of Murphys Micro Quiz with an adbreak in the middle.

Wow- lots of nostalgia there. :)

£113.50 for an Atari, though! How did anybody afford that in 1983?!

On an unrelated note isn't that Fiona from Glenroe in the Natural Gas ad? The posh English bit of stuff who if memory serves me right had a fling with Blackie Connors?

Its shown here during the half time adbreak, starts at the 1:06:17 mark. I think this is an edited version as its a bit shorter than I remember. This is from 1990 but it must have run for a good few years as Id say it was first shown circa early 80's.

Good find. I've been obsessed with finding a version of that ad for over a decade!

Didn't the full version of the ad show a caveman pulling a cave woman off by the hair? Think it might have been part of that tracking bar/nightclub scene which seems to be cut off in the version in that clip.

I didn't watch the clips but definitely remember the caveman dragging the woman by the hair.

Was telling my youngest son about it one evening while we were playing scrabble and he was in disbelief.

"Very soon we are going to Mars. You wouldn't have been going to Mars if my opponent won, that I can tell you. You wouldn't even be thinking about it."

Just watched the clips and it's a different ad altogether that I remember, I think the caveman actually clubs the woman over the head before dragging her along the ground in the one I recall.

OK, there was a series of them all right. Am I right in thinking that they were only shown in Ireland? I've never seen then on any 80's ad breaks from UK TV online.

Yes, he was the recurring main character. There was a series of those caveman ads but the two featured in this thread are the only I've come across online. Those ads appeared in print as well from what I recall.

This is the other online one on its own.

1979 article (scroll left). Two thousand T shirts with the caveman character and the OG ICHI PLOF TEE RA NESSI slogam were printed. Wonder if many survive?
