    Hi all,

I'm attending a wedding in Dunmore House Hotel in June and I see from the website that they have a nine hole course onsite but there's no other info about it available and it doesn't seem to have a members club.

Has anyone here played it? I'd be tempted to get out for a couple of hours the morning after the wedding to clear the head but don't want to drag my clubs etc all the way there if it's a waste of time or a glorified P&P course.

Would appreciate any feedback from someone who's played it or knows it.

    Cheers.

There is a members club there but i wouldnt consider the course to be amazing. Lisselan is another 9 hole down the road that is of much better quality. if your in west cork for a spell of time i'd recommend Bantry Bay and Bandon golf clubs

Lisselan would be a nice stroll to clear the head, enjoyable little course!

I was hoping that the 9 holes on the hotel grounds would allow me to stroll out, play the 9 holes and be back within 2.5 hours. Having to drive (after a wedding) to Clonakilty to play another 9 hole course (or lap it twice for 18) isn't the same thing by a long shot!!

I think I'll give golf a miss that weekend and maybe go for a cycle instead.

    It has a website

Photos in the gallery match up with photos from the hotel's website.

    And here's the scorecard:

    courseId=146050&facilityId=57106&view=wide&img=1&t=1485338941

I think the distances are in metres, but I'm not sure. Dsicover Ireland say it's 4,500 yards for 18 which would make sense if those were metres. They say it's challenging. Wouldn't know about that, but it looks like a very nice walk.

Thanks Dibbler, that'll do nicely so. Looks like there's an active members club (https://www.facebook.com/dunmoregolfclub) so it'll be plenty good enough for me to clear the head and enjoy both relaxing golf whilst filling the lungs with sea air.

At 4,100 metres for 18 it's short (my own course is 6,500 metres) but that won't prevent me from enjoying it. Five par 4's and four par 3's. Won't need the driver much but no harm, the hands may not be too steady after the wedding :p

I'm surprised the hotel doesn't link to the GC website and vice versa, you'd think they would both benefit from associating with each other. Being able to play a few holes there might make a difference when someone is thinking of booking there.

Short par 4s can be a test in themselves. You're automatically thinking of par or better and can get caught out.

I do think it was unfair (on the basis of what I've seen) to categorise it as a glorified pitch and putt. It's a bit more than that by the look at the card and although there are no par 5s, a couple of the par 4s would be in and around the 350-400 yard mark.

I suspect that it's just what you need after a feed of drink; a decent walk and a good dose of fresh sea air. :)

They definitely could do with a link-up, but it really depends on how often these websites are updated and how new the golf club one is. The design looks pretty new to me but the .ie domain was registered in 2009 and the .com in 2015.

its a drive of about 5 mins to lisselan anyway, if your staying in Dunmore i'm sure a 9 holes after the wedding would be grand but it is a short course so dont expect much
