Maybe I missed it in the news but are any of the league games being televised this year? Last year Setanta (now called eir) showed them but I googled for it and I couldn't find anything.
It's two weeks to the first round of fixtures, you'd think they would have announced something by now.

Thanks. They haven't advertised them very much though. Maybe they will start doing it in the next two weeks.

That's actually why I posted; there is only a fortnight before the league starts and there hasn't been any announcement from eir or TG4 about what games they are showing. That's why I thought there are no games being televised live.

Have you not checked the Eir or TG4 websites? That's where I got the TG4 broadcast schedule for the first round of games. I posted it in the Donegal thread last night. Am in work now, so can't throw it up here.

    here it is so

    Allianz League 05.02.17 @ 1.30pm (Live)
    Cavan v Dublin
    Allianz League 05.02.17 @ 3.40pm (Deferred)
    Donegal v Kerry

as for Eir tv, now, it doesnt take Sherlock holmes to figure out the likely fixtures , for instance the only div 1 game on the first Saturday.
    Saturday, February 04, 2017, 19:00
Round 1 - Elverys MacHale Park, Castlebar
    Mayo v Monaghan

And only one div 2 game that evening:
    Saturday, February 04, 2017 19:00
Round 1 - Páirc Esler, Newry
    Down v Fermanagh

Thanks for that munchkin; I don't watch TG4 much so maybe they have been promoting those games on it. The eir games I'd be more interested in as they are in English. I suppose we'll find out what games they are showing too soon enough.

Seriously lukin you are more interested in eir games as they are in English. I don't speak a huge amount of Irish myself but watching a game in Irish doesn't put me off. You don't always have to have commentary on to understand whats going on either. After watching a few games you will pick up enough vocab to understand whats going on. Commentary in Irish is doing no harm and it is a nice tradition that many seem to like and but for TG4 we would not have much coverage of league games and many other grades.

Totally concur.TG4's GAA coverage is top class.

I wonder which channel gets first choice of the games each weekend? I suppose it is eir as they are paying more money for for the rights. In fact are TG4 paying the GAA anything for the games?

There's no choice as far as Eir is concerned. They fixtures were announced by the GAA months ago, Eir can't move a Sunday game to Saturday night because they want a "better" game.

Of course they are. There is no way the GAA are going to hand over the rights to intercounty games, for free.

Absolutely correct. TG4 has absolutely fantastic coverage of gaa and rugby for that matter. As a fluent speaker, I find it better than rte, but you don't have to be. League , club and u21 matches means they really have a savage amount of matches and do a seriously good job.

EIR look to have a good few hurling matches, Cork vs Clare and Cork vs Dublin plus Tipperary vs. Kilkenny. One or two others also. As a Virgin Media customer I cannot get EIR, does GAA Go cover these games? Or maybe EIR have an online option to access these games for a set fee? Any ideas anyone?
