I got a bog standard 6 bale trailer and I need to fit lights, will a light board be within the law? The regs mention side lights as well, they'd be awkward fix to these trailers.
What's the maximum overhang behind where lights are mounted and is there a maximum height? Thanks...

get the individual lights rather than the light board, you wont regret it. the side lights are easy hooked up too. for the sake of it do it right the first time, ive learnt the hard way.

It's a pipe bale trailer you have by the sounds of it. If you're looking for a fixing point Malone engineering have a similar system that you can check.

In regards the maximum overhang it is determined by where you can view them the same applies to height.

The overhang rule in regards to trailers is the distance from the rear crash bar to rear of trailer offhand I think the maximum is 305mm.

You only need lights on the side if your tractor and trailer overall lenght is over `10 mtrs

    Would the magnetic ones work?

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Sorry for the slow reply, had a long hard day but great to have the health I suppose.
Anyway, getting back on track I purchased a light board for now as I need it this weekend. Plan is to fit it out properly with side lights and separate lights at the back.
The light mounting frame is in front of the rear bale and I'm not fond of that tbh so going to change it and weld brackets on the back. Also need to fit a safety chain.

    Thanks for the replies all.

Thanks, so you have a link for the malone system? I've checked their website and Google images but can't seem to see how it's done.
I don't legally need brakes behind a 3.6ton tractor is my understanding?
