Adhesive Advice ?

    Evening All

I need to "repair" a number of wardrobe doors in our bedroom. They're built-in units...and the doors appear to be mdf with a vinyl-like covering. This covering is starting to come away from the doors. For the attached pic I've actually teased the covering to the point where it bent backwards on this particular door. The others are not quite so dramatic but cover is loose/lifting.

I did try one EvoStik adhesive but consistency was way too thick. I think I need something looser I can kinda paint on...then rub the outside with a cloth to get an even "stick". Can anyone suggest what adhesive might be best ?. I've about 7/8 doors to do.

    Many thanks,
    K

To be honest you will never be able to get it to stick back perfectly and look well, they are applied in a workshop using a bag press that applies high pressure to all areas of the door, I had a similar problem in my utility room and tried a few different products, in the end I pulled the cover off, gave the MDF a light sand and painted it! best decision I ever made! I was raging I hadn't thought of it sooner!

I did the same and it was a grand job. Strip the covering off and paint them.

I've had some success with contact adhesive on presses in a kitchen, you could try that?

Pender's suggestion should work, you can try contact adhesive, you can get both paint on or spray versions.

Thanks for the replies folks. I hadn't thought of removing the outer cover and painting but makes sense. Even with a decent and spreadable adhesive I'll still struggle to get the edgings tight - and these loose edgings catch the next door etc.
Only problem now will be removing those covers that still seem tight...And the recess alcove area for the TV !.
    Thanks again, K

Deals do a 2 part spray adhesive that would probably be the job for this. Similar to mitre adhesive.
