Custom fit issues

Looking for advice/opinions on a topic. I was custom fit for a set of irons in May of 2016 and have used these irons since then. Problem is I have not got along with them, distance has decreased and overall I'm unhappy with the irons. Is their any comeback with them or do I just suck it up and carry on gaming them. Any advice suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

General queries, but what handicap, how often have you played, did you get lessons from a pro.

Sometimes custom fit can just be a sales pitch, and off the rack can fit your needs.

Possibly go to your club pro and get them to give you a lesson. Distance is not the be all of golf, getting it in the hole counts.

If distance was there originally then it may be the swing.

Also don't rule out going back to the fitter. If your game has changed swing weight may be out. Loft and lies etc.

Loss of distance indicates shafts possibly being too stiff for you. However distance was there originally.

Go back and see the fittter. Give him or her a chance to see can they help. As a fitter I always wanted fees back. Positive is great, negative is probably more important to learn from. You gotta remember it can be the Arrow, but it can be the Indian too.

So playing off seven at the minute have been there or their about for the past year. Play very regular golf at least three times week. Have not been to a pro for a lesson in about six months.

Understand distance is not the only aspect of golf but having to reach into the bag and take a six iron when not so long ago an eight iron would the number.

Generally just have no confidence in the irons never fell in love in with them. I have them eight months now gave them plenty of time just feel like I wasted a large chunk of money

Have you compared the lofts to your old set? If you've moved from 'game improvement' irons to a more bladed set, the loft difference on the equivalent iron number is massive e.g. A 34 degree seven iron would be the 'traditional' versus as low as 30 degrees on some of the game improvement sets I've seen.

Honestly I think go back to him/her and explain, a good fitter will listen and should offer a refit.

Project X is a heavier shaft, are the Mizunos spinning a bit high maybe? And a little left?

Struggle to get height with the mizuno usually a low ball flight not ideal if you need to get over trees.

Oh.... what's your swing speed with the 7 iron? Any lie angle adjustments? Mizuno std lie angle is about 2 degrees flatter than Titleist.

Use that project x shaft myself, have tried the kbs shaft and hated it wouldn't suit me at all.
    Where did u get fitted?

Your timing could be off due to the lighter clubs. Some swings need the heavier shafts to smooth out the swing.

Are you making equally good contact with the new clubs, ie centre face? Worth checking it with tape. Also, do you still have your old clubs? If so, take a 7 iron and hit a few balls with each, the distance with each will quickly tell you if it's your swing or the club.

I presume you are aware golf balls don't travel as far in cold weather?

Where were you fit and what did the fit consist of?

Did you hit on a range ie could you watch the ball flight or was it indoor on a launch monitor?

Standard loft and lie with the mizuno's 83 - 86 MPH with the 7 iron

Not going to give out the location of the fitting would rather not say. Ya was hitting off a mat and could see ball flight etc

Not an expert in the area but I believe both shafts were weighted at 90 grams cannot be certain of this

Ya understand your point but to be fair we are having an exceptionally mild winter, temperatures have been pretty good.
