An eir Fibre cabinet is now live in my area for the last 2 months. I live within 100 metres of the cabinet but yet when I use the fibre availability tool, it says I can only still get speeds of up to 5mb/s and fibre broadband is not available in my area. There are houses on the next street that can get it but it is unavailable for me. Why am I unable to get fibre broadband and is there any way I can get it.

    Hi  Corkman64,

Thanks for getting in touch. You might not be connected to this cabinet & this could be why you cannot avail of the service.
Are you an eir customer? I would be more than happy to check this.

Hi, I live in Dun Laoghaire and there is a fibre cabinet at the top of my street. I am an Eir customer. When I have tried to get information online I get nothing more than fibre is not available at this time. I can't get anyone in Sales or anywhere else in Eir to say when fibre will be available where we live.

Hi, I am in a similar situation. There is fibre on the street and I believe the line actually passes us but the website says that fibre is not available for us. This is for a business and we would be willing to make a payment for installation if needed.

Hi, I have got nowhere since the last time I posted two or three years ago. Our situation is indeed very similar to yours. There is fibre at the top and bottom of our street and a fibre box also at the top. But when I query the Eir website re fibre availability I get: "Although your area is enabled for eir Fibre broadband, it looks like it hasn't reached your address yet. Please select here to fill out your details and one of our online sales team will contact you to discuss your options."

Have you tried getting in touch with any of the Eir reps on Boards>

I've been advised to contact Eir Sales and check whether my ARD number coincides with my Eircode. I was advised by somebody who had a similar problem and experienced a run around with Eir staff. This sounds as though it might be relevant to the problem some of us are having particularly as one helpful Eir staff member said that the fibre optic connection work on a house-by-house basis which might explain why we are discovering that nearby houses have FITH while we don't.

    Hi Jolly1,

Unfortunately, we don't deal with these kinds of queries through this channel if you wish to contact our sales team you can do so by calling 1800 503 303.

This is correct as FTTH is the connection that goes directly to each individual house.
