application to PIAB - how long for solicitor to submit?

Just a general query on behalf of a friend ... roughly how long should it take for a solicitor to prepare an application relating to a personal injury to go into PIAB?

My friend had an accident and went to his solicitor so that he could pursue a claim against the relevant authority and/or his insurance company ... but over 1 year later, nothing has been submitted to PIAB.... I am of the opinion that this is taking way too long by the solicitor and something should have been submitted by now as the process does not seem to be overly complicated.

I know my friend could apply directly himself but as this may eventually go to court, it seemed wise to seek legal advice first.
    Any thoughts? TIA

    18 Months.

The first step is to get a medical report and then its banged in.

18 months for the solicitor to apply? or 18 months total duration?

I think I read on the PIAB site that once it has been submitted, it can take 7 months to resolution?

    thanks

You have a statute of limitations to have the application in within 18 months of the accident.

The usual hold up at present is garnishing medical reports which can be quite slow as the Consultants diaries are fairly pressurised.

No-one knows the reason for the hold up but the solicitor involved. There could be negotiations in place between them and the insurance comapny for instance. Call the solicitor and ask them

As Mr Incog advises you need to discuss this with your solicitor
