Does anyone else remember a comedy show that used to be on tg4 around 2002/3? I used to really like it but can't remember the name or find anything about it on google! Think it might have been called postai or something. Was set in an Irish village with the postman being the sort of hero, slept with a teddy bear in a childish room I think! The villain was some James Dean lookalike with the haircut and leather jacket.. the damsel in distress was some bookish girl. The camera speed was sped up too. Any information appreciated, just popped into my head there!

I remember that. I'm sure it had no dialogue, just zany music and sound effects. Kind of felt like an extended Benny Hill sketch on a very low budget.

I rememeber it alright, just flicking over I once caught it.

As said no real dialogue and probably why I would have stayed watching. I do watch documentaries which often have english and some subtitles.

No dialogue is a good idea as it can be sold worldwide, like Mr Bean who made a fortune. There was probably a few words like Mr Bean. I see in this clip some fake foreign language.

    Horrible canned laughter

Watching that was struck by the the main actors disturbing resemblance to Enda Kenny. He's a dead ringer only that he's a lot shorter.

I remember a similar series in the early 80's called The Optimist that was very like a proto Mr Bean. True that comedies like this can travel internationally when they have little or no dialogue. The two guys from Little Britain produced a series last year or the year before that wasn't exactly silent but the characters communicated in a kind of makey up language, they probably had an eye to it being a Mr Bean type international crossover thing.

    Dennis Kirkland?
He was one of Benny Hill's main director/producers.

It was truly awful stuff, I would rather stick a knitting needle into my eye than watch that again.
