Maybe you are/were a suspected criminal?
Maybe a woman wanted to see if you are the father?
Maybe you got one done to find relations on websites that do ancestry?
Maybe you got one done to check out your health?
    You could be just curious.

I have for health and ancestry. I was simply curious.
I had no nasty surprises, but health can throw up information one might not like - like one could have the genes associated with early onset Alzheimers disease which is something everyone would dread.
On the other hand, one might get a health report which is very good.

So, have you ever had a DNA test?

Who did you use and how much did you pay?

I did one with purely ancestral dna information. Scotish crowd, was around €250.

    I did two different ones:
    https://www.23andme.com/en-eu/ €169. Ancestry and health.
    https://www.ancestry.co.uk/dna/ £79. Ancestry only.

Yep, did ancestry. My nickname in school was "The Jew" due to my swarthy appearance and everyone I meet thinks I'm North African or Greek or something so was mad curious to do one.

Apparently I'm 94% Irish, 4% British and 2% Algerian. Apparently Cork was used as a staging point for Algerian pirates years ago and they once carried off the entire population of Baltimore in a raid.

Maybe that's where my speck comes from? Judging by mine and my family's appearance some corsair who landed in Cape Clear or whereve must have had genes like a f*cking trooper anyway.

yes, once I did... Family Tree DNA... I think it was $100

I was part of a ancestry project researching my family name. I was the only Irish male to participate in the project (mainly because of mistrust on behalf of my other male relatives)... it turned out that I have 5 exact matches in the US who all share the same surname. Very interesting.
