Amazon.co.uk new year slow down.

Is it just me or does Amazon always seem to have a slowdown when it comes to dispatching stuff just after Christmas? Its like as soon as the new year arrives they sack loads of staff.

I'm sure there was another thread about the same time last year about Amazon being very slow to dispatch stuff when users chose free delivery.

I've had 5 items sitting "Preparing for Dispatch" for nearly a week now.

I've placed three orders over the last couple of weeks, all dispatched in a day or two. No difference from pre-Christmas for me. Perhaps it is the products you're ordering?

All the products were in stock but only small items. Flagged as dispatched after lunch today after being flagged as preparing for dispatch for over a week.

To cap it all its been handed over to i-parcel "the stupidest courier" :(

If its dispatching for more than 3 days then your items are in stock somewhere in the Amazon network, not a local fulfillment center(Bristol). They're bringing the stock together. It happens, you'll especially notice it if you order multiple items together.

Anyone know how long a parcel takes to be delivered from Amazon once it's been dispatched (from Dunfermline, UK)?

Who is the courier? If its not tracked then it will probably be quicker than if its tracked. Shouldn't be more than 2 working days but if i-parcel or asendia have it double that and add on a bit.

I read that Fastway delivers on this end - I've never had any big issues getting Littlewoods stuff from them - I'm guessing the difficulty is getting the parcel from the UK to Ireland in a speedy manner. Ordered 6 days ago and they say I will have it by this Friday, fingers crossed.

Lately I have been getting my deliveries earlier than the estimate and nearly all have said iparcel but they turn up to your door with fastway couriers,
I know a year or two ago if your package said iparcel you could forget about it arriving anytime near the estimate but they seem to be fine now,
they used iparcel lots before then not at all for a year or so but they are using them again now (at least with my deliveries)
I order a good bit from Amazon and hardly ever have cause for complaint apart from the "preparing for dispatch" is very annoying but I know it's when you order multiple items and it takes time to get the things from the sellers or other depots together before shipping them on to you.

They may need a few weeks to recover after Christmas, or it might have something to do with Chinese New Year.

For me they`re like that since about a year. I have Prime membership but it doesn't make a difference - thing which used to take few days before now takes two weeks - and it`s not shipping part - Orders are in "preparing for dispatch" state for two weeks. I think they are prioritizing orders, as when I`ve ordered for UK address it was delivered in 40 hours, and that is why I have canceled my Amazon Prime literally an hour ago.

I ordered an item on Sunday afternoon. Its still at dispatching soon stage which has been since Monday. Will probably be Friday week until I get this. Very poor service!

I have banned myself from buying from Amazon for at least the first 3 months of the year.

I have grown completely reliant on them and use them for nearly all my online shopping, and have done for years. Their service to Ireland has gotten worse and worse and feel like I need to try find alternatives.

a few years ago, with free delivery from Amazon you would expect a delivery time of 4-5 days. Nowadays the expected time for me would be closer to two weeks. I have had items from China deliver quicker than some items from Amazon.

In the last 2 years I have had more parcels go missing from Amazon then from China, and I've ordered a lot more from China than amazon (quantity of orders wise).

Before Christmas i bought a game for myself, never came and I told them that their service to Ireland had seriously deteriorated and I would be looking to use alternatives from now on. They said they would look into it.

I know one person isnt going to make a difference to Amazon, but I just dont like the direction Amazons service is going and I want to try not be a part of it

I've taken to using Parcel Motel for my large item Amazon shopping, since shipping is usually much cheaper. Generally arrives in 2-3 days. 1 or 2 to get to Belfast, then never more than 1 to get to Dublin. I've had items arrive at PM at 9am and been delivered to the locker by 7pm.

I think (judging by their financial results) that Prime is becoming a core part of their business - and their goal is to try and force people into getting it. However whats BS is that you can't even get it here, so this intentional slowdown doesn't really have a point - I paid for Standard Shipping because I needed the item, and it wasn't that much faster. After that I signed up to Prime and have my packages delivered to Parcel Motel and it takes 18 hours. Crazy stuff.

I have just canceled my Prime membership because of that...
I know that I can get my parcel in 18 hours to Parcel Motel - but thats even more annoying. That means that they deliberately ignoring service to Ireland. I`ve been using them for years and usually it was less then a week to receive most parcels and I am ok with that - but now it takes 8 days to process my order - and I had Prime subscription!

I am trying to stay away from Parcel Motel, as I am ordering a lot of small stuff and I am ending up paying 20 quid for 5 small packages worth maybe 40-50e. Not to mention that recently one of Amazon marketplace sellers which I`ve used before decided to sent me a leaflet with his products in an envelope to a Parcel Motel Address and I had to pay 3.95 for that garbage... so now I`m using it only when I need single item very quick.

I`m very angry with them - I have placed an order at 1st or 2nd this month - all items were in stock. It was being processed for over a week and then handed to carrier, and it was being held there for another few days - I was told it will be with me today, but when Ive checked now - it appears it have been delayed again.

So enough of this crap Amazon :) Asta la vista :)

Get onto PM and tell them you received unsolicited mail in your mailbox and they'll refund the charge for that delivery.

I ordered stuff on Sunday with standard free delivery and two different packages were delivered by AnPost on Wednesday.
    Very surprised at the speed.

I ordered some stuff on Sunday night, it arrived this morning with An Post. Happy with that, considering very slow deliveries for recent past orders.

Fasted I've ever received an Amazon delivery. The original email said estimated delivery March 1st/2nd :P
