I just use a Megadrive controller with mine.

And you have NO issues with ANY games?

Not really, but then I play mostly Amiga 1200 games via.... something naughty.... and most things work fine.
If there's games that need more buttons or a keyboard I'm out of luck, but the library is massive as it is so no worries.
The Megadrive pad is lovely to use too.

There was/is some lag with the menus on those completely legitimate compilations, but once past them most things seem to work.

Those Competition Pro CD32 pads have shot up in value the last few years. For a used one in not great condition you're talking 60-70 euro, for new old stock or minty one its a good few hundred euro.
I ended up cleaning and repairing a faulty one i had rather than pay stupid money for a new one. Nice pads though and probably the best for the console.

Dont buy any of the new Playstation looking CD32 controllers that kmtech sells on ebay, they are absolute junk and the guy is an outright liar when it comes to dealing with him.

Yep. The start menu doesn't work in game on the 'legitimate' compilations. I've tried 3 different mega drive pads. Now might try a 3do one. You never know.
