While I'm well aware that people have been gravely ill from the actual flu, and what I have is most likely a cold, I'm not impressed at all!
Been creeping on all weekend, yesterday felt brutal (called in sick), today I thinking 'OK not too bad now'. Got as far as the bus stop and thought I was gonna either vomit or pass out, possibly both! Called the job, and came back home.

So needless to say I'm feeling ridiculously sorry for myself, and wondering if anyone is in the same boat? And yes I know I should just suck it up and go in, I'm weak.....

I've had something or other for the last six weeks... head colds, sore throats, vomiting bug and the last few days flu like symptoms that kept me in bed..

Missed a total of two day's work.. Worst of it has hit me on weekends and national holidays. Lucky me.

Nah, don't go in. You'll give it to everyone else.

Our office is like that. Central air. Every day there are two/three people out. It's sickness on rotation.

Everyone in the office seems to have something, and a lot of the family, my turn I guess

There does seem to be a lot of bugs around this winter. And many are long running bugs...2-3 weeks.

Well OP, I've been feeling great this winter. Have not been sick at all yet which is a miracle. :D

I actually have put this down to buying a decent scarf and set of gloves.
Mainly because ive been wearing the gloves from the point i leave the house until i get to work. Not touching anything with my bare hands on public transport. Makes me sound like a germaphobe but i think thats it.

Yep - weekend ruined, haven't been able to train in days, and sitting in work with a pain in the front of my head and hot under the collar (for no good reason). Bleh. Got the flu jab, yet this is the second time this winter that I've caught something that's knocked me for six and made me feel miserable!

    🤪

You could be right, avoiding the common ways to catch it. Delighted and jealous for ya

I'm usually always sick, I catch everything. But I've bedn okay this winter. I have a sniffly nose, a bit of a cough and lots of sneezing since early December but I don't feel unwell, just getting it hard to shake it off. Though if I come through this winter with just having the sniffles then I'll be thrilled

This is exactly the reason why old women often wear leather gloves. It works!

doubt it helps when it comes to flu, might help with germs, but not when sitting in cramped bus and someone sneezes or coughs million particles all over the place.

They do, but it's not as serious.

Wish it was that easy - some don't get paid to not go in cos of no sick leave pay in contracts.
