What part of London would you be staying in?

Stay in Cambridge, might be handier! That's what we used to do when we went over!

My one trip to the 2000 Guineas in 1995 was a day trip.
Flew in, underground to Liverpool Street station, train to Cambridge, train to Newmarket, taxi back to Cambridge, and so on.
Anyone getting the train from Cambridge in those days had a poor connection to Newmarket, and a longish walk from Newmarket "station" to the racecourse. Looking back the best way was to shout out at Cambridge station "anyone want to share a taxi to Newmarket".
