Old unused driver files that have lingered on and on in your Windows PC

I notice that the driver for this smartphone, a Sony - Ericson 'Elm' has lingered on in Devices and Printers 5 years after I had discarded the physical thing. I'm sure this is commonplace on Windows machines, where files linger on and on, un - noticed and unloved. I have deleted it now btw. What about your own Windows…
