If I can get one cheap enough I want to pick one up for Mario Maker with the wife. Anyone know anywhere that's selling em cheap?

GameStop Argos & Smyths want 300.

Think you can pick one up in Cex for around 200. I know they are 2nd hand but its 100 quid cheaper at the end on the day.

As long as it works and isn't in bits I don't mind! Problem with the black ones are they scratch really easy. Nightmare

    They grade the consoles three ways;

Boxed: Box, all original accessories console must be in V.good condition (not mint but you can get lucky)

Unboxed: In good condition, all essential accessories and official controller.

Discounted: Console either in poor condition OR has an unofficial controller (usually paint, scratches things like that and nothing that can impact functionality)

All the consoles must have an intact warranty seal, are covered for 24 months and playtested. Outside of an intermittent fault or test error the console should be absolutely fine and you are covered for the first 30 days back to method of payment and after that a replacement.

The only things that tend to sneak past test are things like intermittent disc read/disk tray errors, I'm talking once every 8 times kind of thing or a sneaky stick drift on a controller. Things that you would catch within 30 days. Outside of someone not doing their job properly all should be good.

People have a hang up over buying second hand but CeX are your best bet outside of buying new. (You'd save obviously by going the done deal/adverts route but the extra 40 odd quid grab you a two year warranty and none of the hassle that comes with meeting someone etc). The consoles are tested for parental controls and if they flag as stolen, have custom os's things like that. It can be worth having a look at the consoles on person though, you'd be surprised at some unboxed being mint or having all accessories but just missing the box.

With the Wii U, boxed black you'll get the console stands, charging dock, console stand, gamepad, console, HDMI cable and the two chargers.

Unboxed and discounted will come with at the minimum: Gamepad, console, HDMI cable and both chargers.

Edit: oh and the online store. If you buy a console you're covered by Irish law for two weeks after delivery that of it either arrived not in the condition you expected or missing anything etc just pop into a store and they'll sort it out.

Cheers. I'll only end up playing

    Mario Maker
    Mario Kart
    Zelda Windwaker HD
    Mario Bros. Wii U
    And Mario 3D world

So naturally don't want to spend a fortune on one.

Throw Pikmin 3 in there too, it's a fantastic game.

Hyrule Warriors was surprisingly good too.

But, pick up Yoshi's woolly world when you buy the console, it was fantastic from start to finish. One of the best two players on a couch drinking beers games I've ever played. Amazing looking and for any skill level. Like my nephew could breeze through it then later that night two 30+ year olds could be falling out over trying to collect all flowers, yoshis or the special levels.

Actually I think Yoshi's woolly world might be my favourite game for the system.

    http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/wii-u-mario-kart-8-pack-tesco-direct-237-49-2601843

Tesco Direct doing the Mariokart 8 bundle for around €275 + parcel motel, assuming they'll deliver there. Save 25 quid and knock a game off your to-do list! Plus, if it's a digital download code you get the added bonus entertainment of praying in vain that they'll acknowledge your purchase in some way when the Switch redux gets released!

Use the 25 quid you saved to buy a Wii - it's practically a Gamecube VC if you already own the disks!

Try Adverts and Donedeal. Far cheaper than CEX and your money will go a lot further.

Surprising to say that's isn't the case from what I see. A lot of sellers looking for retail on their used console

There tends to be a lot of delusion on Adverts, on both the side of the buyer and seller!

Exactly. I'll be selling mine as soon as I hear how virtual console transfers work (I don't want to lose my purchases).

I thought Nintendo had stopped tying games to a system with Wii U? So if I download from E-Shop and my console breaks I don't have to jump through hoops to have my games on my new one...

I may have dreamed that, but if they are charging for online and still haven't implemented that then I'm out tbh

I would hope that you just need to set up your NNID on the Switch and that they know all your purchase history and that the games automatically appear there. You shouldn't have to physically transfer them ala Wii to Wii U. Let us play them on both devices.

I hope so, guys... Reggie says we'll find out soon.

Exactly. But it doesn't work like that with 3DS and if I'm correct it wasn't how it worked with Wii U for a while either, I could swear I read about it and a big fuss was made of Nintendo having it so you just needed to log in to download games you've purchased prior.

That's absolutely stupid also. You can't just leave these things in the dark, it's not building hype like holding back info on the Switch and just dropping the code name every so often. It literally just serves to worry people and if they don't get the answer they want maybe choosing not to upgrade until they get what they want in that they can have their purchases (imagine!). If it turns out they can't be moved along with your NNID between that & only lending you a ROM file once a month Nintendo really need to properly sit down and think out their online strategy again. I really think they underestimated how nostalgic people are for old NES & SNES games that they saw it okay to just say "ah but we will give you a ROM. temporarily for one month then you buy it".

It's as bad as MS touting their games with gold and showing you the first two games were ACII and Halo 3  you're paying us about €6 a month for the service and we're paying you back with two games worth just about that. While Sony who's offerings aren't always great have given brand new indie titles that are amazing & on PS3 some decent AAA games. It's cringe to hear Reggie bang on about how they're watching twitter and online etc and then go mess up online services so badly. Rent a ROM... like come on Nintendo.

Yep, that was my concern. To transfer from my old 3DS to the New 3DS was a pain (both machines need to be on, wifi enabled etc. and go through the pikmin transfer process). I'm just worried that the same might be the case here.

There is no WiiU to Switch transfer, not in the way you're talking about. 3DS to 3DS transfer moves your licenses to the new handset and wipes the source to stop you cloning your console. You arent moving your licenses to a new generation. The WiiU transfer issue was Wii to vWii, ie you moved your Wii shop account to the vWii and it wiped your Wii. Same gen again. However, I don't think you had to do the vWii transfer to get the discounted VC price on WiiU if you had purchased the game on Wii previously for the same account. I could be wrong, as the Wii didn't support the NNID but that shouldn't be an issue on the Switch. Its not backwards compatible, so where would your licenses go?

TL;DR : I know nothing, but it took me a paragraph to figure that out.
