    I'm not sure if this is the right thread I'm sorry if it's not,I'm just wondering could anyone give me some information and advice .im am moving to England for a year to look after a relative ,im now back driving in the last six months so im wondering what do I do about my car insurance,do I cancel it or what is the best way and cheapest to go about it

    You can cancel it and if you had paid in full you will get a proportion of this back, could be 25-30% refund on 6 months left. Your no claims bonus is valid for 2 years, once the gap in insurance goes over this you start again at zero.

    Do you intend driving in the UK?

    Yes I do but will my full licence be accepted ,and what should I say when it comes to English insurance companies ,could I keep my Irish insurance ,or is English cheaper,thanks for your reply

    UK insurance should be cheaper, some insurance companies won't recognise non UK years of no claim driving though so watch out for that.

    If you only have 6 months insurance then you may be be better keeping it (or suspending it if the company will allow it) rather than cancelling the policy as you won't get any NCB for less than a full year insured.

    Some UK insurers will not accept Irish NCB but most will. It is better not to tell them that it is non-UK when looking for a quote, it seems that often if you ask for a quote telling them it is a non-UK NCB they will refuse to accept whereas if you just tell them you have a NCB without being specific and send in the Irish cert they accept it.
