    Hi all,

Anyone have any recommendations for a good strip view room in Vegas that won't break the bank? Lots of hotels offer them, but if anyone has actually been in one I'd love tobhear what it's like.

    Thanks

I wouldn't care if my window was looking at a wall in Vegas!!!
Never in it only for sleep

Precisely. The best view of Vegas you'll get is on the plane as you come in to land. Really not worth paying a premium for what's outside your window

Thanks for the replies. We're bringing the small ones though so will probably be in the room more often that your average punter, hence the query!

Tbh with kids I'd be looking to have a room well away from the strip. It truly is the city that doesn't sleep but you'll want to. No way I would pay extra to be closer to the noise!

Any hotel I've ever stayed in on the strip has been super quiet.

OP a hotel slightly away from the main strip like the trump (yes, I know, but it's supposed to be a decent hotel with good value rooms for the size!) will have the best views. Or anything with a view of the bellagio fountains or maybe the mirage volcano will be entertaining for kids but pricey. The palazzo or Venetian have some good views and the rooms are big with separate sitting room areas for when the kids are asleep. Honestly, I prefer to look at the mountains anyway, there are some great sunrises/sunsets here

The best view especially at night.

I once stayed at Ballys right next to Paris (they are interconnected) and it was brilliant. The tower is almost right on the strip so the view looks right down it. Much better than bellagio that was right across the street.
And it was cheap. But they were renovating. But I think "ballys" is always going to be a bit less expensive than the big themed casinos.

Oh and check their website, sometimes therell be deals you won't find elsewhere.

I've a fountain corner suite booked in the vdara. I had a strip view booked in the Aria but the Vdara was the same price for a bigger room.

Last time I was in the Luxor. Stepping it up this time

Don't bother with the $20 Tip(google it), she kind of laughed at me but offered me a free upgrade to a Pyramid Suite or PAY to upgrade to a Tower Suite so I upgraded to a Tower Suite. Basically a One Bedroom Apartment. 512 feet and very comfortable.

    (1) So High Floor, Tower Suite Upgrade
    (2) Nathan Hotdogs up the escalator in the food court(chilli cheese dog)
    (3) Taxi drivers will be pissed with you for the Luxor(mine didn't even get out at hotel even with a tip so I left the "trunk" open and walked off), short trip low fare, back to back of queue like getting a taxi from Dublin airport to swords
    (4) When you walk in the door with your bags you will be pounced on by guys trying to sell you dinner tickets(they work for hotel). Tell them to fvck off. I told him that I hadn't checked in yet and he can try again when I'm actually a guest. He got the hint
    (5) Bring soft runners. It's a fair walk to the strip, train thing only goes as far as Excalibur and you've to walk into the hotel to go back out over to New York so just walk
    (6) You CAN walk to the Vegas sign. Head early, south on train to Mandalay bay, out onto road and walk. Nice walk. Get picture of wedding chapel and put on facebook like I did and my mother thought I got married on the sly. :D

It's a nice hotel. It may be the cheaper of the hotels on the strip but a great hotel compared to anything here. Rumour has it they're currently upgrading the pyramid rooms(see Tripadvisor forums) so use that as maybe a way to bribe them into giving you an upgrade.

Taxis are an absolute rip off. Download the uber app.

OP against here, thanks for your replies. We're flying in next Wednesday, and was looking at booking a shuttle from the airport to hotel. They can be booked online, but it seems aswell you can just rock up in the airport and hop on the next one, is that correct?

A friend recommended taking a shared shuttle as a great way to get an introductory mini-tour of the strip!

Yes, no need to book the shuttle bus that stops at all the hotels.

Downstairs outside the baggage claim area i think.

Get an Uber. Cheaper and Fixed Price. No chance of getting "Tunelled".
I'll be using Uber when in California and Vegas in June. Ironically they have offices in Limerick but no service there.

op, the mgm signature is fantastic, get a one bed suite, has a kitchen, 2 bath, 1 bedroom, and one sleeper sofa in living room, also has a kitchen. Get a room with balcony and strip view, its spectacular... good value for money too, have discount code if you need one, should still work...

Thanks for the offer, we got sorted with a hotel through a work connection so it's working out as a pretty good deal.

And thanks for the Uber code too, I'll try that

where are you staying? just interested cause I know the place like the back of my hand at this stage!

OP, you mentioned that you were going with kids?
There's a place under the casino floor in Excalibur that is great for kids.
Full of arcade games and the like.

Circus Circus also has a good spot right at the back of the hotel. It's a Funderland type deal with rollercoasters etc.
    Enjoy!

As well as uber, there's another ride sharing service called lyft. If you use both of those and refer whoever you are travelling with, you should get a fair few free rides.
