Super Bowl 2017 parties in Dublin

Looking for suggestions on where to go in Dublin.

Not interested in the Rebels in the odeon. They have a coors association and you can't get any other beer. Also find their management of he event bothersome. They seem to reserve all setting for team family & friends.

Any suggestions as to somewhere that's likely to have a good athmosphere?

Woolshed is always mobbed for it, but it does mean there's a good atmosphere as long as you don't mind long waits to get served. Dunno if they still let you book seats in front of the big screen. We did it the year the Giants played the Pats, booking it was free I believe, was glad we did because a decent view was hard to get elsewhere in the place.

Last year we ended in Sinotts, no booking required, massive screen that could be seen from anywhere and not too bad to get served.
But I wouldn't mind change somewhere else either.
Anyone with feedbacks from D2? I've heard is good as well and you can reserve a table too?

Going Living Room myself this year - was there last year and there was a good atmosphere without it being too packed. Also, they have the best HD big screens in the country IMO.

Agree on the Rebels Odeon event, far better options out there.

Did D2 two years ago and was great. Were able to walk in a get a table in front of big indoor screen but plenty were reserved too. Think it was €5, got some chicken wings at half time and there was beer bucket offers as well.
Weren't as rushed out the door once it was over as the woolshed either.

    Booked D2 today

Was at the living room last year and it was brilliant, even if my Panthers lost :( Definitely don't go to the Dublin Rebels one, brutal it is. Has anyone been to the Portobello for it?

Do you have to book the Living Room, or just turn up?

I generally just show up in my Living Room

Just a heads up, seems there's a new person of authority who's clamping down on late night Sundays. Woolshed are finishing up at 1am as per their Facebook.

So you probably won't see any of the 2nd half?

Falcons will be out of sight by then so it won't matter.....!!!!

Wow, that's pretty shocking from a place that considers itself "the home of US sports in Dublin".

Most places serve drink until 1am and then close the bars, but leave the games on for the remainder of the night. Looks like Woolshed are saying fúck that if they can't make a few quid out of it.

Nah, they got shut down last week after some Muppet called the public order unit on a wrestling party!!!! And now the guards are all over them, even if they stop serving, they're getting shut down at 1 anyway.

Then I humbly withdraw my outrage :o

But I don't see why they waited until a few hours before the game to announce this when they would have known all week. Well, I do see why, and it's very underhanded.

Someone from one of the other bars showing the Superbowl tonight do you reckon?

Or will there be a city wide clampdown on bars staying open?

No, a lad who got kicked out for being drunk and decided to throw his toys out of the pram.

I was under the impression you could stay open as long you stopped serving drink at 1am? That's shocking, I was just reading about it over on the wrestling forum.

I don't know the full logistics, it was a private ticketed event, so in theory you're right, but I don't know.

I do know that I was in there Friday night and the staff were convinced this was full steam ahead, so i wonder when word filtered through.

Bouncers are assholes at Buskers, and I don't think it's the kind of place for hardcore NFL fans, more of a trendy's bar. Best ring any venue your thinking of heading to to check first, some may be all ticket or invite on a list. Regardless GO FALCONS GOOOO !!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,732 ✭✭✭Reganio 2

It's buskers on the ball which is their downstairs part loads of screens, no harm giving it a go as no point in going Woolshed and this place only opened and it's a sports bar so should be a bit of craic.

Unfortunate for anyone going to the woodshed. Hopefully they find a home somewhere else.

I see from twitter the rebels party had 20 tickets left.
Obviously seeing some competition as its normally a sell out way before the SB

Probably cause anyone has been to previous ones realised it's just them bigging themselves up and all the decent seats are gone to them and their mates.... And **** Coors Light

They've been advertising it a lot more this year. It's been on the radio quite a bit. I'd say it's a combination of more (free) competition, better venues and poor feedback from their own event in years past.

If the Woolshed is closing at 1am, I say everyone will head to the living room. Think I might give it a miss this year then and head to the Portobello. Anyone been there for the Super Bowl?

Woolshed has been shut down quite a bit recently. Seems to be a woolshed problem. Other bars in Dublin are all saying they are open for the game.

Methinks woolshed have lost their licence.

If they lost their license they wouldn't be able to open at all. If they lost their late license they'd be closing at 11 not 1.

Methinks you haven't read the feckin' post.
It clearly states that you can't legally serve after 1am and it's the same for every other bar.
Difference is some choose to break the law and get away with it - fair play to them.
The Woolshed has lost its license - there just isn't one to lose. P

so people will be kicked out of woolshed now? what would be the point of going at all.
i suppose the game is pretty much over now

Me thinks it seems to be only the woolshed with this issue. Everywhere else operating like normal. Carry on.

Yeah, but they're still operating without a license, it's just that the woolshed are on the guards radar. It could have happened to any pub. It could still happen tonight. All it takes is one twat to ruin it for everyone.

That is 100% understandable and it was said by the very nice woman who went around the woolshed and notified everybody of this situation. I have no problem with them having to shut if it affects them operating on a daily basis. All I'm saying is that it seems to be the woolshed and the woolshed only that seems to be affected by this.

And going by recent events in the woolshed that have been shut down. It seems that it is just them that has the issue. That is all.

That seems clear enough. They must have pissed someone off!

McSorelys was heaving tonight. I think they were taken aback - I asked the barmaid during the United game earlier how many they were expecting tonight and was told 80 but it was almost full during the first half.

Went to Dtwo this year. Started off great. Got seats. Good crowd. Promotions etc.
Then at half time they refused to change any empty kegs and left the whole place drinking bottles or hophouse13. Some barmen told us the manager cleans the lines on a Monday and wouldn't make an exception. Unbelievable. Place hopping and they had no draught beer.

Then a bouncer had to be asked to move away from standing in front of a big screen. Final whistle came and the little Hitler got his own back. No trophy presentation, no drinking up time. Just pushed to the exit and told by this power trip of a lad that he didn't give a **** about nfl etc etc.

Bad end to what could have been a great night. We still had fun despite of the venue not because of it.

Great game. Bit of a Pats fan on the side (niners leaving me with little to shout about), but felt very sorry for the Falcons and our new HC.

    Rant over.
