Hi all I bought an LG tv 43uh603v and got a freesat dish and antenna for Irish channels. Guy in shop assured me I could pause rewind record etc and tv has built in freesat so no need for box etc Problem is that I am getting serious lag. Switching channels can take upwards of 10 seconds... Pause rewind etc doesn't work. I keep having to reset my fav channels etc etc. I can't record despite attaching a 500gb hard drive. All very frustrating. My question is is it the tv and should I bring it back or is it something else that is causing this. TV cost over 500 lids so not really happy. Hope this is in right category.

Some TVs handle freesat better than others some just not well at all.
Pause rewind might be related to the formatting on the hard drive should check out LG support on that the shop cant really assist on that function really.

500 lids in the scheme of things is a lower value TV so there has to be compromises. A dedicated free sat box for example im sure would handle channel switching far better.

Most expensive TVs are now trending towards just being a panel, a really good panel but just an input for external boxes with smart tv included. the higher end ones tend not to include built in sat receivers etc.

Thanks.. Mmmmm I see so I would have been better off either going a bit more high end or getting a Humax box or something.. Still though the product doesn't do what it is sold to do.

Is the big channel switch lag when changing from a terrestrial to a Satellite TV station or back?

Does it similarly lag when changing from one terrestrial to another or from one satellite station to another?

Try removing the hard drive & see if the lag dissipates. The tv obviously doesn't like something about the hard drive if it's not working.

Try updating the tv firmware & doing a factory to see if starting from scratch helps.

Only other thing I can think of is make sure both the satellite & aerial have a strong signal.

It may very well just be the tv has a weak processor & takes a while to change. I know my Samsung h6700 from a few years ago has gotten noticeably slower to react to commands, as the processing power has been shifted toward motion enhancement. The picture looks better now than when I got it, but it's very slow to react to change channel or open an app.

Yes I would try removing the hard drive and update the firmware, most TV's are only suitable for USB memory stick drives rather than external hard drives which require more power.

Thanks for all the replies. I did a factory reset and removed hard drive and that seems to have improved things... At least I can change channels without waiting for ten seconds now. I reformatted the hard drive on the tv tried to do a scheduled recording and the lag returned, it recorded 11 seconds of the programme and I got an error message saying the programme had to be played on the tv it was recorded on or something like that. Once I removed drive the lag issue improved again noticeably. Not ideal considering I can't record but at least it is usable now. I guess for recording etc I will prob have to invest in Humax box or something. Will try smaller storage and revert back. I guess I expected "smart" tv to have better processor and memory. Thanks again.

try flash storage of SSD, if its a spinning drive the read write will be awful this slowing everything down.

Throw a USB into it if you have one.
