Social Welfare and part-time work

    Okay so I've recently got a part time job which I work at 3-4 days a week for 12-16 hours. To be honest, I couldn't survive on these wages alone.
    My partner has been claiming an Increased Qualified Adult (IQA) payment for me since last February.
    I understand that with getting a job, the Social Welfare may want to re-assess the claim and give a reduced rate of IQA.

    However, my partner is on Jobseeker's Allowance and is actively looking for a job ( hoping he'll have one by the end of the month) So I'm wondering ;

    Is there any point in applying for a new means test when he may have a job in the next few weeks or should I make a claim within my own right?
    Either way I need to let the Dole Office know that I've started work and still need financial help.

    Hiya
    There's been a change in your circumstances so your partner will have to report this to SW first thing on Monday and they will want your first payslip and any subsequent payslips
    He will possibly be in an "overpayment" which means that he owes them money
    If he does owe them then this will have to be recouped.
    You don't have to make your own claim until he closes his.

    Would he owe the total sum of the weekly payments he claimed for me since my first payslip?

    No. he will owe back the total amount that he shouldn't have got while you've been working.
    If you have no kids then he would have been getting €312 per week
    He probably wasn't entitled to all that for the entire period where you have been paid. The bit he wasn't entitled to will have to be paid back

    I should've made that clearer but that is what I was referring to. He was claiming 124.80 on my behalf.

    That's the full amount of Dependent payment
    Dependent payment is means tested so when you have income from work he couldn't get the full amount
    Don't worry too much but the quicker you clear it up the better for you all
