The undercard is free on ITV4. This will fail miserably.

    My thoughts exactly.

The promo slide for the new "itv BOX OFFICE" PPV channel on Channel 493 is just so uninspiring
I just wonder why they think it will be such a successful venture as Boxing as a premium subscriber PPV event has never managed to live up to all the advance hype on this side of the Atlantic. People tend to feel cheated if the fight is finished only after 1-3 rounds.
itv digital, itv play, itv news channel all ended in failure and I reckon itv BOX OFFICE will not last long either.

Unfortunately this will never happen, the fact that they sold UTV Ireland to TV3 as fast as they could get rid of it proves they have no interest in setting up or being made available in Ireland, despite this they make their ppv channel available here as can buy the rights on a per ppv basis for Ireland and UK and make money from it. I don't see this ppv channel lasting very long.

It seems things have changed since this thread started ...
In pre-launch publicity, it was originally indicated ITV would show the undercard on ITV4. The broadcaster has since clarified it will show all fights on ITV Box Office.

ITV Box Office joins a growing number of ITV services available behind a paywall, including ITV Encore and HD versions of ITV's offshoot channels, as the broadcaster diversifies away from traditional linear free-to-air channels.

Does not look good for the future for FTA ITV channels.

It's boxing, the promoters want PPV, I'd take no example for the future of ITV from it.

Its amazing the ITV have absolutely no problem placing a PPV channel on the Irish EPG and taking €€€ from us but won't pay carriage for ITV 1-4...

I remember Channel 4 used to do the same with Film 4.

ITV can't offer the ITV's here because TV3 show most of their programming.

What annoyed me more was that ITV had no interest in developing UTV Ireland and adding the ITV network here. They could have if they wanted to but had no interest in doing so and selling everything back to TV3 which is curtains for ITV on the Sky Platform here.

Exactly! ... they had the chance to launch in Ireland but they choose not to having no interest. Although they do seem to have interest in us when they want PPV money...

They obviously never had any interest in this market. They got rid of UTV Ireland very quickly. You can't really compare PPV to a general entertainment channel.
